A simple checklist
Prepare your submission.

Write your story
Send an editable Word document attached to an email, or type your article in the email itself. Scanned stories and non-editable PDFs are not accepted under the published Journal guidance.

Choose clear photographs
Attach digital JPG images separately, at the highest quality available and at least 400 × 400 pixels. Do not embed photos in the Word document.

Include the details
Add the author’s name and title, chapter name and number, location, event date, article title, and a contact phone number. The phone number will not be printed. Check the spelling of names and titles.

Send it to the editor
Use your article title as the email subject. Include any notes that would help the editor and the name of any publication that has already printed the story. Check your inbox for an acknowledgment.

Permissions & publication.
- Include written photographer permission for images bearing a watermark.
- Recognizable children under 18 require specific written parental permission; the published guidance says their faces will otherwise be blurred.
- Submit your own work and credit quotations. Previously published clippings require written permission from the original publisher.
- The editor may edit articles and images. The published policy states that submitted articles and images become the property of the Eastern Star Journal.
